Segmentation Faults on Linux
Reported by Matt | August 12th, 2008 @ 09:28 AM
This is most likely user error but I thought I'de post this anyway :P
I've pasted my terminal output here: http://xpwn.pastecode.com/?show=...
Is there a specific firmware version I'm meant to be using? 1,1_2.0_5A347 doesn't work for me at all and 1,1_2.0.1_5B108 segmentation faults when it tries to do this patch: FirmwareBundles/iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102.bundle/DeviceTree.m68ap.patch
Should I be using different args or a different xpwn version? The only other thing I can think of is: does the ipsw need to be on the same partition as xpwn?
More info which you may be interested in: Ubuntu 8.04 xpwn nightly build downloaded from: http://iphone-downloads.info/dlo... today. I haven't run xpwn at all, just ipsw because I've already pwned my iPod Touch, do I need to run it for any reason?
Thanks in advance, Matt

You seem to be using an old version of xpwn. I broke iPhone 1.1.4 support with the 0.3.0 release in order to expedite getting it out there. Merging from the filesystem was also removed in favor of the much better merging from tarballs.
Naturally, trying to apply 1.1.4 patches to a 2.0.1 IPSW will be... bad.
Anyway, I would get builds directly from me. A lot of sites mirrored xpwn when it came out, and never updated since. They're not quite "official", since I can't really afford the time to do end-user support: http://www.iphone-dev.org/xpwn/x...
It's also not ideal because we're already over the bandwidth limit for that server, but meh.
